YU RAM CHA RULES AMWAY WOMEN’S WORLD 9-BALL; POCKETS $20,000

UNDEFEATED YU RAM CHA ruled the 2010 Amway Cup Women’s World 9-Ball Open on Sunday at the Core Pacific Living Mall Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, besting topnotch lady cue artists from around the globe.

Cha nipped countryman and former two-time world champion Ga Young Kim, 11-5, in finals to finally put a jewel to his tag as one of the best players in the world today.

Cha earned $20,000 for the win, while Kim settled for $10,000 in prize money.

On the roads to the finals, Cha eliminated Shu- Han Chang of Chinese-Taipei, 9-7, while Kim beat S. M. Chen of China, 9-2, to forge an all-Korean finals.

The losing quarterfinalists, Han Chang and Ming Chen took home $5,000 each.


Lone Philippine entry Rubilen “Bingkay” Amit of the Philippines made it to the Last 24 of this Asian Pocket Billiards Union (APBU) sanctioned tournament.
