RP’S GM PARAGUA TOPS NY CHESS TOURNEY

FILIPINO Grandmaster Mark Paragua settled a truce with American International Master Justin Sarkar in the third and final round to emerged over-all champion in the just ended Prove Your Point Chess Championships last May 22 at the Chess Center of New York in Manhattan, New York, USA.

Paragua, and Sarkar, both finish with 2.5 points each in three outings, however the former Filipino whiz kid capture the title after the tie break points was applied.

Paragua earlier beat Gabo Schnitzler and Aleksandr Ostrovskiy, respectively.

Mary Christine Joyce Paragua, wife of Mark is far at 11th placers with 0.5 point in the 12 player’s field.

Last May 20, Mark (3.5 points) settled solo second place with eventual champion Russian Mikheil Kekelidze (4 points) in the 10 Grand Prix Points Tonight at the same venue.

Wife Mary Christine Joyce Paragua also at far at 30th placers with 1 point in the 33 player’s field.
