RAKIN WINS, PARICA, ORQUE FALLS IN RENO OPEN

FORMER TWO-TIME World Junior Girl’s Champion Fil-Am Mary Rakin continued her winning run, however compatriots Jose “Amang” Parica and Jaynard Orque lost their matches in the on-going 2008 Reno Open yesterday at the Sands Regency Hotel in Reno, Nevada.
The Cavite native Rakin, who is currently based in Daly City, California nipped Sammy Cordova, 9-7, for her fourth straight wins in this double elimination format. Her next opponent is Corey Harper, who brought downed Trevor Smith, 9-7.
The West Covina based Parica, on the other hand was succumbed to Michael Deitchman, 8-9, while Orgue, who is residing in Modesto, California yielded to Stevie Moore, 6-9.
With the loss, both Parica and Orque joined Leonardo “The Rattle Snake” Andam in the one-loss side. The pride of General Santos City Andam, who bowed to Parica in the second round of the winner’s side, 8-9, keep stay alive here by beating Brian Law, 9-7, and Kurt Kobayashi, 9-8, respectively.
Also in contention in the loser’s bracket is Fil-Canadian Edwin Montal, who beat Larry Wilson, 9-5.
Meanwhile, Fil-Am Danny Petralba start packed his things when he lost to Johannes Kauhanen, 5-9, for his second loses.
