PULPUL WILL GIVE PLAYING TIPS IN THE 1ST PAGCOR-KABAYAN BILYAR-ARALAN 9-BALL CHALLENGE

MANILA, PHILIPPINES—NO less than Filipino rising pool Demosthenes “Plong-Plong” Pulpul will be the guest of honor in the forthcoming 1st PAGCOR-Kabayan Bilyar-aralan 9-Ball Challenge beginning on June 19 at the Yes Billiards Hall (University belt) in Recto, Manila.

The 2008 World Ten Ball Championships semi-finalists Pulpul, playing under the banner of Cebuano sportsman Paul Monera Magadan of Magi Group and Mark Monera Magadan of MPC Glass and Aluminum trading will also give playing tips to the participants.

The Manila/ Cebu based Pulpul, who is fresh from a joint third place finish in the 2009 Philippine Pool Championships at the SM Megamall is in Shanghai, China yesterday for the 2009 World 9-Ball China Open along with compatriots Marlon Manalo, Antonio Gabica and Jeffrey de Luna. The US$40,000 top prize event gets underway yesterday.

Meanwhile, Jonas Magpantay, a freshman pupil of Ponciano Bernardo Highschool in Cubao heads the cast of the 1st PAGCOR-Kabayan Bilyar-aralan 9-Ball Challenge.

Magpantay, 15, recently graduated from Pedro Tuason Elementary School in Cubao, Quezon City. He is the youngest qualifier in this year’s Philippine 10-Ball Open.

The tournament supported by Vice-President Noli “Kabayan” De Castro, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) aims to encourage young billiard players to pursue their studies and also promote the sport among students.

Registration is free. Interested parties may contact Noli Cruz, president of the organizing Lion’s Den Enterprises, at 4928028 or 0929-8357770. At stake in the three-day event is a total of P50,000 with the champion getting P20,000. The players must present their report cards or class cards from School Year 2008-09 to join the competition.
