PINOY IM BARBOSA SETTLED THIRD IN NY CHESS TILT

FILIPINO International Master Oliver Barbosa turned back American Allen Weiss to finish in a tie for 3rd along with six others in the 4 Rated Games Tonite Chess Championships last July 16 in New York, New York.
Barbosa, whose stint here is supported by NCFP president Prospero “Butch” Pichay Jr., and New York Immigration lwayer Geronimo “Gerry” Albano scored 3.0 points, the same output of Alec Getz, Leif Pressman, Oliver Chernin, another Filipino entry Arthur Macaspac, and Joshua Ross Weinstein. After the tie break points, Barbosa landed 3rd while Macaspac ended 7th over-all.
Parker Guang Zhao, who beat Barbosa in the third and penultimate round finish unbeaten with 4.0 points including a last round win over Leif Pressman.
Valentin Goikhman, meanwhile ended 2nd place with 3.5 points, who brought downed IM Jay Bonin.
