NM LUPIAN TOPS DAVAO CHESS

MANILA, PHILIPPINES—FORMER Philippine Junior champion National Master (NM) Alexander Lupian tops the just concluded 1^st Caissa’s Father Invitational Blitz Chess Tournament was held at the Atty. Jong Guevarra’s Rest House in Eden, Bayabas, Toril, Davao City.

Lupian, finished the tournament undefeated in the 9 players round robin tourney with 8 wins and 1 draw for a total of 8.5 points. ASEAN Age group gold medalist and youthful John Ray Batucan held Lupian’s only draw to avoid a sweep.

Samuel Yu came second with 8.0 points followed by third placer Erwin Tubog with 6.0 points and fourth placer Neptali Batucan Jr. with 5.5 points.

The young Batucan (John Ray) and Nofre Reyes was tied at fifth to sixth placers while Anthony Mosqueda, Zaldy Tabanao and Lito Laput settled for seventh to ninth placers with 3.0 points each. The winners received cash prizes courtesy of Guevarra Law Office and Chess Excellence Ltd. Co.
