LUAT BEATS HAYA, TOPS VILLAR CUP IN ILOILO

RODOLFO “BOY SAMSON” LUAT won the Manny Villar Cup Iloilo leg. In the final he defeated Elmer Haya 11-9 to claim the P300,000.00 pesos first prize was held at the Activity Center SM City here.

“Winning a tournament against the different top best players is a very big accomplishment, and I’m very happy winning this game,” said Luat, playing under the banner of Negros Billiards Stable (NBS) head sportsman/ businessman Jonathan Sy and NBS coach Christopher “Toper” Palses.

“Maraming salamat din sa suporta nina Boss Jo (Jonathan Sy) at Toper (Christopher Palses),” added Luat, who is best to remember winning the 1996 World Open Nine-ball Championship, much known “Boy Samson” in a pool world, moniker he has carried since the 1970s because of his powerful break.

The runner-up Elmer Haya received P120,000.00, 2nd Runner-up is Warren Kiamco and 3rd Runner-up is Lee Van Corteza both from Negros Billiard Stable (NBS) which they received P40,000.00 each.

The feat made Luat second win which he also the champion in Bacolod leg, last November last year of this Villar Cup event series presented by Villards: Tulong sa Pagsulong ng Philippine Sports and sanction  by the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines.
