LIM, PANOPIO, ABELGAS SHARES TOP HONORS

SAMSON Lim Jr, Rodolfo Panopio Jr. and Roel Abelgas made the country proud anew for completing grand slam 1-2-3 finish for the Filipino campaigner in the Ambank Challengers being staged at the sideline of DATMO 2009 Chess Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

They all piled up 7.0 points but Lim emerged the overall champion due to superior tiebreak points.
Rounding up to the top ten (10) finishers were Jax Tham (Malaysia), Tan Kok Liang (Malaysia), Nor Ilhamuddin (Malaysia), Izz Saifuddin (Malaysia), Cheah Cheok Fung (Malaysia), Fadli Zakaria (Malaysia) and Ooi Li Tao (Malaysia).

Adjudged category winners were Best Lady - Renitha Narayanan – 5.0 points, Best U-16 - Tan Jun Feng – 5.0 points and Best U-12 - Tan Li Ting – 5.0 points
