Filipino Show Their Veterans Move as they Crush Italy

ONCE again top Filipino cue artists showed their might in the table as they beat Italy in the 2009 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool  in SM North EDSA, Philippines.

The Hall of Famer Efren ‘Bata” Reyes and his kumpadre Francisco “Django” Bustamante playing under the banner of Puyat Sports seems they adjusting in the early racks as they raced into a 5-3 lead until the Italians duo of Fabio Petroni and Bruno Muratore powered five of the next seven racks that put the Filipinos to enter the round of 16.

It was a difficult start for filipinos and give Bustamante drive the game that give Reyes a fighting spirit while he was finding his game.

The Italian made his presence in the middle of the game and even the score at 7-5 after Reyes missed shots in the twelve rack, on the 3-ball respectively.

After Reyes unforced error on the 3-ball bank shot in the 13 racks the Filipinos was then to hot to finished the remaining balls that gave then a 7-5 lead and a scratch on the brake in the 14 rack that give the Filipino a win (8-5).

It shall be recalled that the tandem of  Reyes and Bustamante clinched the inaugural trophy in 2006 when they defeated Team America spearheaded by Rodney “Rocket” Morris and Earl “The Pearl” Strickland in the final at the Newport Centre, Newport, Wales in front of a large partisan crowd.
