DR. MAYOR LEADS PHILWEB-HUMAN PLUS GRAND PRIX; EXECUTIVE CHESS THIS WEEKEND

Group A, Top 10 individual standings:

PHILIPPINE six-time executive champion and Quiapo Lay minister Dr. Jenny Mayor remains on top in the over-all grand prix standings after accumulating 138 points in the 9th leg of the 2009 Philweb–Human Plus National Executive Grand Prix Active Chess Championships recently.

In solo second place is FIDE Master Randy Segarra, head coach of De La Salle University, Taft campus with 90 points and NM Allan Sasot with 85 points in third.

Rounding up to the Top 10 are 4. NM Allan Macala (84 points), 5. RP and US Master Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr. (71 points), 6. NM Mirabeau Maga (69 points), 7. NM Efren Bagamasbad (68 points), 8. NM Ali Branzuela (64 points), 9. NM Ronald Llavanes (54 points) and 10.Dandel Fernandez (44 points)

The 10th and final leg will be held on November 21 (Saturday), 1 p.m. at the newly-opened South Game Mall, EDA corner Pasong Tamo Extension (near Magallanes MRT Station), in Makati City.

Organized by the Philippine Association of Chess Executives (PACE), the 25-minute time control is backed up by Philweb Corporation thru lawyer Cliburn Orbe.

The two divisions competing are: Group A: 2000 & above latest NCFP Active Rating (Swiss System) and Executive NMs and FMs.

Group B: 1999 & below latest NCFP Active Rating (Swiss System) 5, 6, or 7 rounds depending on the number of participants).

The top eight finishers in both divisions (Group A and B) per group advance to the grandfinals.
