DEMOSTHENES PULPUL TO COMPETE IN BALI 9-BALL OPEN

DEMOSTHENES “PLONG-PLONG” PULPUL will leave for Indonesia on December 1 to compete in the Bali 9-Ball Open 2008 slated on December 3 to 6 at the Sanur Beach Hotel in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia.
“I hope to do well in this event,” said Pulpul in Filipino to this writer recently at the famous Star Billiards Center, whose stint here is supported by Cebuano businessman Paul Magadan of Magi Group in cooperation with the Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP).

Joining Pulpul in the 128 player’s main draw are compatriots 2006 Doha Asian Games 9-ball silver medalist Jeffrey “The Bull” De Luna, Elvis Calasang and former Southeast Asian Games 9-ball gold medalist Victor Arpilleda.
A virtual unknown in the world of pool, Pulpul, who hails from Cagayan de Oro City, the country’s newest pool discovery after make it to the semifinal round of this year’s World Ten Ball Championships recently at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City. He beat twice former two-time Asian Games 9-ball gold medalist Yang Ching-shun of Chinese-Taipei and world’s female No.1 Jasmin Ouschan of Austria.
The Bali 9-Ball Open 2008 is an official tournament recognized by WPA (World Pool-billiard Association) and APBU (Asian Pocket Billiard Union), and is designated for the WPA world ranking and hosted by All Indonesian Billiards Association (POBSI).
The total prize money Rp. 350.000.000 (US$38,043.00) where the tournament champion will earn Rp. 100.000.000, (US$ 10,870.00) + Predator Cue 5K8′; the runner-up will get Rp. 50.000.000, ( + US$ 5,435.00) + Predator Cue 5K5; the lsing semifinalist will bring home Rp. 20.000.000,- ( + US$ 2,174.00) + Predator Air Jump each; fifth to eight placers will be receiving Rp. 10.000.000, ( + US$ 1,087.00); 9 to 16th placers receive Rp. 5.000.000,( + US$ 543.00) and 17 to 32nd placers Rp. 2.500.000, ( + US$ 272.00).
