CEBUANO BITOON FAILED TO JOINT 2ND PLACE IN SUBIC CHESS

CEBUANO International Master Richard Bitoon failed to joint 2nd placers after losing his 9th and final match against Indian GM Abhijeet Gupta at the conclusion of 2nd Subic International Open Chess Championship in Subic, over the weekend.
With the lost, Bitoon wa sstuck at 5.5 points and dropped into a tie for 12th to 21st placers that includes GM Mark Paragua, GM Jayson Gonzales, and IM Julio Catalino Sadorra.
Paragua split the point with Yu Yangyi, Gonzales beat IM Zhang Ziyang, Sadorra draw with Nguyen Van Huy.
Iranian GM Ghaem Ehsan Maghami scored 7.0 points to enroute the coveted title after beating Bangladesh GM Ziaur Rahman in the final canto.
Meanwhile, GM Bong Villamayor, GM Darwin Laylo, IM Oliver Dimakiling, NM Alex Milagrosa, NM Rolando Nolte and NM Efren Bagamasbad landed into a tie for 22nd placers in the group of 5.0 pointers.
