BATA, ALCANO, KIAMCO TRY THEIR LUCK IN US OPEN 9-BALL

AFTER a magnificent performance in the just ended money rich Galveston World Classic in Texas, Filipino billiards great Efren “Bata” Reyes, Ronato “Volcano” Alcano and Warren “Warrior” Kiamco will try their luck in the forthcoming 34th annual U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships in Chesapeake Conference Center in Chesapeake, Virginia next month (October 18 to 24).

The Angeles, Pampanga pride Reyes, acknowledge the greatest player of all time won the One Pocket division, the Calamba, Laguna native Alcano on the other hand, won the 8-ball crown while Kiamco, from Pasil, Cebu settled runner-up in the 10-ball competition to received the second prize of $12,000 for his effort.

Kiamco yielded to eventual champion Mika “Iceman” Immonen of Finland in the finals of the 10-ball competition. Immonen, meanwhile, took the crown and the $25,000 top prize goes with it in the $1 million-total pot tournament which lured world renowned players.

Also competing in the US Open 9-Ball which is offers $100,000 to the champion, are Francisco “Django” Bustamante, Jose “Amang” Parica, Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan, Dennis “Robocop” Orcollo, Roberto “Pinoy Superman” Gomez, Ramil “Bebeng” Gallego, Santos “The Saint” Sambajon, Marlon “Marvelous” Manalo and Ramon “Maestro Monching” Mistica.
