BALUNOS RULES ROCKWELL CRITERIUM RACE – SIGAW NG KALIKASAN

PHILIPPINE AIRFORCE top bet Joel Balunos bravely won the Elite category of the 5^th. leg of the Criterium Race-Sigaw ng Kalikasan last Sunday August 2, at Rockwell Grounds clocking 15 minutes and 45  seconds. Other top 4 winners of the elite categories who would advance to the grand finals to compete with the other cities top 5 lwinners are: Reynaldo Navarro  of the Philippine Navy, Virgilio Quinta jr. of the Philippine Army, Ruel Gendrano of Excellent Noddles and Louie Embalsado (independent).

The inclement weather did not stop the cyclists in coming to compete in the first ever inter-city cycling competition in the country. It is  the first cycling competition permitted and hosted by Rockwell Mall too.

Criterium Race-Sigaw ng Kalikasan is perceived to be a yearly competition organized by North Star Sports C.E.O., Boy Santiago in cooperation with the United Cycling Association of the Philippines through its President Ricky Cruz. It focuses on the awareness of climate change undeniably the biggest threat of our era which unfortunately is not being given the proper attention.

The event was highlighted by  a “Big Time” raffle promo of the SPYDER ADVENTURE CONCEPTS, the company known for  Spyder Eyewear and Helmets wherein it raffled off 20 bicycle helmets, 10 motorcycle helmets, 5 ipods, 4 Olympus waterproof  digital cameras, 3 mountain bikes, 2 3G iPhones and a beautiful Honda CBR RR Bike!

In the Executive Division the winners are: Marcial Pangilinan with 16 minutes and 05 seconds followed by Manny de los Reyes of JAC Liner, Leian Curz of Fitness First , Richard labine of Excellent and Alfie Pinano. The top winner won a POLAR WATCH – listen to your body gadget being use by the cyclists in the on going “Tour de France”.

The next tournament and 6^th leg of the cycling competition is being eyed to be done at Pasig Tiendesitas Grounds before the end of August.
