MANILA, PHILIPPINES—Luzon champion Carlos Anton of Baguio City emerged as the undisputed king of the 2009 Philippine Autocross Championship after beating Mindanao champion Hernel Jao of Davao in a head-on racing battle at the Macapagal Boulevard.
It was the first head-on battle of regional champions in the history of the sport. They disputed the title over three heats in a stock Ford Focus provided by Tuason Racing School.
Anton also grabbed the titles in the Experienced Modified B and C, Open B and C and All Honda Classes of the racing series presented by Castrol Edge Sport and Federal Tires and supported by Outlast Battery, Samsung, Auto Transporter, Cruven System and Stoplight TV.
Visayas champion David Lim of Cebu failed to make it to the national championship. Still, he emerged as champion in the Novice Modified B and C in the 18-leg series organized by Shago Racing, Advancement and The Racing Line. The other Class champions were Chris Cadiz in Novice Stock B and C and Patrick Bautista in All Toyota.
