ANOTHER CHESS TOURNAMENT IN THE MAKING

AFTER a highly successful staging of first-ever Palmdale Import and Export Co. Rapid Chess Tournament last June 28, another three division chess tournament gets underway in the month of August or September, this was bared yesterday by tournament organizer RP and US Chess master Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr.
The next event is sponsored by Sydney based Angelito Camer in close cooperation with China based Joel Pineda.
“Definitely, August o September ang next three division tournament natin. Check din natin ang tournament schedule ng NCFP para hindi makasabay sa event natin so that makasali lahat ng manlalaro,” said Bernardino, a sports writer and radio commentator.
Last June 28, the three division chess tournament was attracted a total of 175 woodpushers on account of 100 non-master players, 29 Womens pawnpushers and 46 kiddies players. The one day event, free lunch to all participants is sponsored by sportsman/ businessman Fernando “Kuya Nanding” Reyes, FDR International, XT2000 Orange Oil and Diana Secret for anti aging treatment in close cooperation with Filway Marketings Inc.CEO/President Hector Tagaysay and Dickies vice president Dody T. Arcaya, which aims to discover future world class player.
Gracing the opening rites of first-ever Palmdale Import and Export Co. Rapid Chess Tournament were Fide Master Christopher Castellano, Bandera Sports Editor Frederick Nasiad, Palmdale Import and Export Co. manager Nerissa dela Fuente, GM Jayson Gonzales, ASEAN + Age Group gold medallist Paolo Bersamina, Asia’s First Grandmaster Eugene Torre, Womens Billiards World Champion Rubilen Amit, Asia’s First IM Rodolfo Tan Cardoso, QC coun. Bong Suntay,QC coun. Bayani Hipol, GM Mark Paragua, and GM Rogelio Antonio Jr. University of the East top player Jayson Visca and Philippine Airforce pride Allan Cantonjos shared the top honors in the non-master class while University of the Philippines (UP) top women player Rida Jane Young took the womens crown and Ateneo de Manila University stand-out Jan Emmanuel Garcia won the kiddies 14 year old and below.
