ANDAM LAST FILIPINO STANDING IN RENO 9-BALL OPEN

LEONARDO “The Rattle Snake” Andam clustered four straight wins in the loser’s brackets and became the last Filipino standing in the on-going 2008 Reno Open yesterday at the Sands Regency Hotel in Reno, Nevada.This after compatriots Jose “Amang” Parica, Edwin Montal, Mary Rakin, Jaynard Roque and Danny Petralba was booted out in this double elimination format.

Andam, who hails from General Santos City defeated Jeff Gregory, 9-2, Adam Smith, 9-7, Jim Fabionar, 9-2, and Oscar Dominguez, 9-2, respectively, to keep hope his alive in this prestigious annual event.
Andam first setback against Parica, 8-9, in the second round of the winner’s bracket.
Parica, on the other hand suffered his second loses to Jeff Health, 5-9. Then Health proceeded to beat Rakin, 9-7, The Daly City, California reisdent Rakin, the former two-time World Junior girls champion earlier lost to Corey Harper, 1-9.Montal, meanwhile bowed to Trevor Smith, 5-9, even Orque lost to Louie Ulrich, 4-9, and Petralba yielded to Johannes Kauhanen, 5-9.
