THE two conqueror of Philippines long entry Rubilen “Bingkay” Amit also failed to advance in the quarter-finals of the 2010 Amway WPA Women’s World 9-Ball Open yesterday at the Core Pacific Living Mall Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan.
Current World’s womens no.1 player Karen Corr of Ireland was yielded to former back-to-back world champion Ga Young Kim of Korea in the “Sweet 16″ (5-7) while Xiao Fang Fu of China succumbed to ex-US Open 9-ball tilist Kelly Fisher of the USA (5-7).
The 27-year-old Amit from Mandaue City, Cebu, earlier lost to Corr (3-7) in the fifth and final round during the group stage match last Friday then suffered another setbacks to Fu (5-7) last Saturday in the last 24,single elimination format, winner’s break, race-to-7 affair in this annual event, which is offers $20,000 to the champion.
Other lady cue artists who made it to the quarter-finals that includes S. M. Chen and Yu Han of China,Shu- Han Chang of Chinese-Taipei, Allison Fisher of Great Britain, Vivian Villarreal of the USA and You-Ram Cha of Korea.
