ALCANO, ORCULLO TO COMPETE IN US OPEN 10-BALL

FORMER double world champion Ronato “Volcano” Alcano and Dennis “Robocop” Orcullo lead seven other Filipinos competing in the inaugural United States Open 10-Ball Championships slated on May 17 to 22 at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, United Sates.
Alcano and Orcullo, the top player of Perry Mariano’s Bugsy Promotions are among the 112 pool players included in the tournament sanctioned by the Billiard Congress of America (BCA). A total $20,000 will go to the inaugural champion.
Joining Alcano and Orcullo are Efren “Bata” Reyes, Francisco “Django” Bustamante, Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan, Jose “Amang” Parica, Roberto “Pinoy Superman” Gomez, Lee Vann “The Slayer” Corteza and Marlon “Marvelous” Manalo.
Also included in the all-star field are last year’s world 10-ball and US Open 9-ball champion Finish Mika Immomen, former world 10-ball champion Darren Appleton, Americans Johnny Archer and Earl Strickland, and former 9-ball and 8-ball champion German Ralf Souquet.
The tournament will come right after the 2010 PartyPoker.net World Pool Masters on May 12 to 16 where Bustamante, a two-time winner of the event, is among the four invited Filipinos.
Bustamante will be joined by Reyes, Corteza and Pagulayan in the 32-player field where the champion brings home $20,000.
